Who we are

Sobell House Hospice provides expert care to adults in Oxfordshire living with a life-limiting illness, and supports their loved ones. We are here for our community every minute of every day.

By providing our patients with a better quality of life, we hope to give them more time making memories with loved ones, or doing what matters most to them. We help people to get married, celebrate important milestones, enjoy daily life, and maintain their independence.

At the end of life, we support people to live their final days as and where they choose to, and give our patients the gift of a peaceful and dignified end, surrounded by their family and friends.

Family stories

Ray’s Story

“We asked dad if there was anything he wanted to do, and he asked to sit in the garden. Well, the amazing staff made this possible within minutes, and dad was wheeled outside in his bed to feel the fresh air, watch the birds, and look at the flowers. We were all laughing and singing – dad was even trying to dance by moving his feet to the music and enjoying a small glass of wine. It was a really special and memorable evening. The nurses were angels and gave dad the care that he deserved.”

Dave’s Story

Dave didn’t want to die, but Sobell House and the amazing people who work there allowed him to die as he lived, with great dignity and surrounded by love. He was calm, relaxed and pain-free, and I was with him holding his hand just as he wanted on 5 March, the date he died.”

YOUR DONATIONS HELP MAKE EVERY MOMENT MATTER

It is estimated that the number of people needing vital end of life care in England will rise by 55% by 2030 and as a result, the demand for hospice care is expected to grow at a similar rate. Assuming that NHS funding will not increase in line with the demand, in order to be able to provide a service to all that need it within Oxfordshire, we are likely to need to double our annual fundraising by 2030.

That’s why it’s never been a more important time for us to raise the vital funds that keep our hospice up and running.
