Mary, also known as ‘BaaBaa Blackshaw’, is an illustrator from Oxfordshire. Inspired by outsider art and folklore, her work inhabits a space between play and storytelling. Mary also works with paper craft, creating cutout and make designs.

This ox serves as a map of Oxfordshire’s eccentric and interesting stories. Each image tells a story, from Henley’s least successful highwayman, to psychic llamas in Chipping Norton!

After the trail ends, most of the life-sized oxen (and a selection of mini oxen) will be sold at a hoof-biting live auction to raise crucial funds for Sobell House Hospice.

The lucky new owners will then take their moo-gnificent ox to its forever home.
